Estate Litigation. Appellate Advocacy.
Liza is an associate lawyer at Tupman & Bloom LLP. Shortly after her call to the bar in 2018, Liza focused her practice exclusively on estate, trust, and capacity litigation. She represents and advises trustees, attorneys and guardians for property/care, beneficiaries and other claimants in a wide range of litigious and non-contested matters.
Liza likes to work closely with clients to hear their stories and understand their goals. This informs her client-centered approach to dispute resolution through effective negotiation, and if necessary, litigation. Liza always seeks practical solutions to the complex issues involved in estate disputes and ensures her clients understand each step of the process. Liza has contributed to a major Ontario estate publication and has presented at professional development seminars for lawyers.
Liza enjoys staying active in the legal community through her involvement in various organizations including the Ontario Bar Association, The Advocates’ Society, Young Women in Law, and the Junior Trusts and Estates Practitioners’ Group (JTEP). Prior to her estate litigation practice, Liza articled at a leading criminal defence firm and gained experience at all levels of court in Ontario. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, where she focused on developing advocacy skills and volunteered at Pro Bono Ontario. Liza also received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University and spent one year studying in France at the University of Bordeaux. She is fluent in French and Kurdish.
